Maryland PNHP invites you to a fundraising dinner with friends and colleagues. The dinner will feature a talk by Dr. Carol Paris, M.D., the current President of PNHP. Dr. Paris is a recently retired psychiatrist who spent over 25 years in private practice, much of it in Maryland. She has been a tireless, outspoken and humorous activist and advocate for a national single-payer healthcare system. She ‘discovered’ an unusual condition that is epidemic in the United States, but oddly stops at the border: PISD or Privatization-Induced Stress Disorder (pronounced “pissed”).

You’ll also get to meet Maryland PNHP’s new state-wide organizer, Brittany Shannahan. Brittany is an experienced community organizer who has worked on issues including poverty and the environment. Some of her activism was done while living in the United Kingdom, where she experienced the security of a national health system.

The promise by President Trump and the Republican congress to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act has created a strong reaction, as evidenced by recent congressional town halls where constituents spoke out strongly about their fears of losing access to healthcare. We are convinced that all of the changes proposed by the Republican-led congress will decrease access to healthcare, resulting in major increases in mortality and morbidity.

The clear solution is a national improved Medicare for all, single-payer healthcare system, as embodied in HR 676. This is a critical period; the rising interest in healthcare reform has given us an opening to build a much stronger grass roots movement for single-payer.

We hope you can join us for an exciting evening. If you cannot come; please consider making a tax-deductible donation to the Maryland Chapter of PNHP or better yet become a sustainer by making automatic monthly contributions from your credit card. Maryland PNHP, is a 501.c.3 organization.
